This week has been eventful for the whale harbor charter boat fleet. Besides the great sailfishing this week the wahoo have been biting. Wahoo typically are here year round but this time of year is special. Between 100-350 ft of water holds large size and goos amounts of wahoo. Live bait fishing with wire leaders and speedos for bait can be effective and good old fashion speed trolling is just as effective. I also preach that your lures must be under the surface so using trolling weights is almost a must. (Local tackle ships can show you the kids can’t set up). Several boats have tipped scales with 50+ lb fish this week. So don’t wait February Is a short month with some incredible wahoo waiting to be caught.
